'Anne of Green Gables' gets new anime adaptation 'Anne Shirley'

"Anne of Green Gables" is once again getting adapted into anime!

A new website and X account were launched to promote the new series, which is titled "Anne Shirley" and scheduled to premiere in Japan in April 2025.

It follows the story of a girl in Prince Edward Island in Canada and her adventures as she grows into a young woman.

Several still images from the series were released to introduce some characters, such as Anne herself, her friend Diana, and her love interest Gilbert.

"Anne of Green Gables" is a classic novel series written by Lucy Montgomery. It was previously adapted into anime in 1979 under the direction of Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata.
