Miss Grand International has released a clarification regarding the licensing of Miss Grand India, which recently parted ways with the pageant.

In a statement on Thursday, MGI said they did not renew the contract of the previous Miss Grand India license holder, citing several reasons for the decision.

"The previous license holder consistently delayed license payments, with final payments made only a month before the final event. The contract was not fully finalized until the preliminary round," MGI said.

"Despite agreeing to send the winner titleholder to represent Miss Grand India in 2022 and inviting our reigning queen to their final event, the license holder failed to comply. Due to delays in their show, they crowed Miss Grand India 2022 as the first runner-up while our reigning queen was already en route to Delhi airport. This action violated the terms of our contract," the organization added.

The international pageant also said the previous license holder did not sufficiently support and promote their representative as well as the MGI Brand.

Miss Grand India announced their departure from MGI through a statement posted in the official Instagram accounts of Miss Grand India and Glamanand Supermodel India.

They said that their "visions and goals" do not align at the moment.

Incidentally, the reigning Miss Grand International 2024 is Rachel Gupta of India. Miss Grand India expressed their pride for her despite their exit from the international pageant.

In October, Thai media reported that Miss Grand International terminated the franchise of Miss Grand Myanmar after their representative, Thae Syu Nein, rejected the crown following her second runner-up finish in the competition.

Philippine bet CJ Opiaza finished first runner-up in the pageant.
