Boy Abunda on Miss Universe 2024 staging: 'Parang kulang sa kinang'

This year's edition of Miss Universe is not one for the books, in the opinion of Boy Abunda.

During the Monday episode of his talk show, "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," Tito Boy aired his own sentiments on the Miss Universe 2024 pageant held in Mexico on Sunday (Philippine time).

"I'll be very honest, this was not one of my favorite Miss Universe. Parang kulang sa kinang," he said.  

"Medyo naguluhan po ako ng kaunti. Even the presentation of the gown, medyo iniba nila. Parang ang feeling ko lang po, ay parang kulang sa brilyo 'yung staging," Tito Boy added.

The TV host praised the pageant for its record-breaking number of 125 candidates and for its diversity and inclusion, but he was not satisfied with how the event turned out.

"Pero hindi ho masyadong kagandahan para sa aking pananaw ang ginanap na Miss Universe," he said.

He also addressed the naming of continental queens, questioning the real purpose behind it. 

"Continental queen for Asia, queens for different continents. Ang tanong ko eh 'what was that? Was that an afterthought na parang naisip nila para mas ma-engage ang different parts of the world? I didn't get that whole awarding," he said.

He congratulated Philippine bet Chelsea Manalo, who was hailed the first-ever Miss Universe Asia, but raised questions on how the title was given.

"Pero ang tanong, Thailand made it to the Top 5 right? But she didn't get the Queen of Asia? What was the basis? Parang kulang sa paliwanag," Tito Boy said.

At the end of the competition, Victoria  KjaerTheilvig of Denmark was hailed as Miss Universe 2024 while Chelsea finished in the Top 30.
