Jessica Soho graces premiere night of 'Lost Sabungeros'
Jessica Soho attended the premiere night of "Lost Sabungeros" in the 12th QCinema International Film Festival on Saturday.
As seen in Nelson Canlas report in "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, the award-winning journalist graced the event along with other Kapuso personalities such as GMA Public Affairs First Vice President and GMA Pictures Executive Vice President Nessa Valdellon, "24 Oras" anchor Emil Sumangil, and "I-Witness" documentarist Kara David, among others.
"Ang sabi nga ng mga producers nito, walang makakapigil sa katotohanan kasi kailangang isiwalat ang katotohanan," Soho said about the documentary.
According to "Lost Sabungeros" director Bryan Brazil, they wanted to help the families find justice for the missing cockfighters.
"Iisip namin na gumawa ng documentary na ito para 'yung paghanap nila ng hustisya, mapalabas siya at 'di lang mabaon sa limot," he said.
Aside from these Kapuso personalities, some of the relatives of these lost cockfighters also graced the screening.
"Hanggang ngayon po wala pa pong linaw sa amin 'yung mga kaso, magtatatlong taon na sa January 7. Wala pa rin po," Carmen Malaca, the mother of the sabungeros said.
After the screening, a talkback session led by David was held together with the team behind the documentary and some of the relatives of the missing cockfighters.
"Lost Sabungeros" will have another screening on November 10 and 12 in Gateway.
"Lost Sabungeros" was set to premiere in August at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, but its screenings were canceled by the festival due to "security concerns."
The documentary delves into the disappearances of over 30 sabungeros or cockfighters who have been missing since 2021. Its production team took more than two years to create the documentary despite the threats against their lives.
