Isolated barangays in Kristine-hit Libon, Albay receive relief goods from GMA Kapuso Foundation
A total of 4,000 individuals in the isolated barangays of Libon, Albay received relief goods from GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Operation Bayanihan project.
According to "24 Oras" on Friday, the relief goods were distributed to seven barangays in Libon that got isolated due to landslides caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Among the beneficiaries is Elmer Regallaro, a farmer in Brgy. Talin-Talin, whose rice field suffred due to a landslide.
"Imbis na manggaling as amin 'yung bigas, 'yung palay, kami na ngayon ang bibili dahil wala kami mapagkunan na. Ubos ang palayan," he said.
On October 28, the GMA Kapuso Foundation successfully reached Brgy. Talin-Talin and Brgy. Rawis with the help of the Presidential Security Command, which lent two presidential choppers for the mercy mission.
Relief goods were also delivered to the municipality of Pio Duran in Albay, which also experienced landslides during the onslaught of Kristine. Cebu Pacific Air provided assistance to the foundation to expedite the delivery of relief goods to residents in Pio Duran.
GMA Kapuso Foundation is still accepting in-kind donations for communities affected by Kristine.
These include rice, drinking water, noodles, canned goods, sugar, hygiene kits, sleeping mats, blankets, slippers, towels, and detergent.
In-kind donations may be sent to the GMA Kapuso Foundation office from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the GMA Kapuso Center, GMA Network Drive, cor. Samar Street, Diliman, Quezon City.
These may also be sent to the GMA Kapuso Foundation Warehouse from Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 366 GMA Compound, Tandang Sora Ave., Brgy. Culiat, Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
Monetary donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, Banco de Oro, Philippine National Bank, UnionBank, and Bank of Commerce, as well as through Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, Lazada, Globe Rewards, and Metrobank credit card. Visit GMA Kapuso Foundation's website for more information.
Meanwhile, the foundation is now preparing to distribute relief goods in Cagayan province for those who were affected by Typhoon Marce.
With the help of the Philippine Navy, the foundation also delivered construction materials, food packs, and early Christmas gifts to those affected in Batanes.
