Miss Panama withdraws from Miss Universe 2024 following disciplinary commission's evaluation
Panama's Italy Mora has withdrawn from this year’s Miss Universe competition.
The organization made the announcement on Friday, saying the decision was taken after a thorough evaluation by its disciplinary commission.
“The disciplinary committee, charged with maintaining the integrity and values of the pageant, conducted a full audit of the matter and, based on the information gathered and reviewed, has concluded that withdrawal is the most appropriate course of action under the current circumstances,” the statement said, adding that the decision was made with the utmost respect for all parties involved.
The organization also stressed the importance of maintaining confidentiality and respect during the process.
“Confidentiality is a fundamental pillar of any disciplinary process. By protecting sensitive and personal information, we not only ensure fairness and equity in our decisions, but also the dignity of all involved,” they said.
They asked everyone to respect the privacy of Miss Panama to avoid unnecessary speculation that may negatively affect all parties involved.
“We would like to thank you once again for the continued support and understanding of our community as we work together to ensure that Miss Universe continues to be a platform for inspiration and positive change in the world.”
The ongoing Miss Universe competition is happening in Mexico. The coronation night is set for November 16.
