Over 7,000 residents in Kristine-hit Cagayan, Isabela receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation
A total of 7,312 residents in the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela who were affected by the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Operation Bayanihan project.
According to "24 Oras" on Tuesday, the foundation reached the isolated areas of Sitio Arsag in Brgy. Linao East, Tuguegarao City in Cagayan and Sitio Fugo in Brgy. Maluno Norte, Benito Soliven in Isabela.
Among the beneficiaries is resident Aurea Telan who, despite preparing for the storm, still wasn't able to save her corn field from the flood that Kristine caused.
Sitio Fugo in Brgy. Maluno Norte was also isolated for four days after a river nearby flooded the area. Per resident Vicencio Butac, he was able to save his three carabaos and pig, but 10 of his pet chickens were swept away by the flood.
GMA Kapuso Foundation, alongside the 5th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, prepared food at Tuguegarao East Central School and also distributed food packs, including in Brgy. Linao East.
Two thousand residents in two barangays near a river in Ilagan, Isabela, also received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
"Luos kaming nagpapasalamat sa GMA Kapuso Foundation na unang-unang nagabot ng tulong para sa aming mga nasalanta ng bagyong si Kristine," said Adriano Olavidez, barangay chairman of Brgy. Maluno Norte in Benito Soliven, Isabela.
Previously, the GMA Kapuso Foundation also distributed relief goods to over 2,000 families in the isolated barangays of Pantao in Libon, Albay and Panoypoyan in Bula, Camarines Sur.
