SB19's 'GENTO' bags Dance Recording of the Year award at 16th PMPC Star Awards for Music
SB19's viral song "GENTO" has won the Dance Recording of the Year award at the 16th PMPC Star Awards for Music.
Other nominees in the category include BINI's "Pantropiko," AC Bonifacio's "4 Myself," Janah Zaplan's "Dancing On My Own," Kiana V's "Dare You," BILIB's "Kabanata," and Vivoree's "Matapang."
Here is the partial list of winners, as announced by PMPC on Sunday:
- Male Acoustic Artist of the Year - Arthur Miguel ("Paano?")
- Female Acoustic of the Year - Moira Dela Torre ("Eme")
- Pop Album of the Year - Zack Tabudlo ("3rd Time's Charm")
- Female Pop Artist of the Year - Belle Mariano ("Bugambilya")
- Male Pop Artist of the Year - Donny Pangilinan ("Biglaan")
- Rap Artist of the Year - Flow G ("Rapstar")
- Male RNB Artist of the Year - Kris Lawrence ("Buti Na Lang")
- Female RNB Artist of the Year - KZ Tandingan ("Kailan Pa Ma'y Ikaw")
- Lifetime Achievement Award - Gary Valenciano and Homer Flores
The rest of the winners in the major categories were announced during the award's night on October 27 at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
"GENTO" is SB19's top hit from their EP "PAGTATAG!" Shortly after the group released the song, it quickly became a viral dance challenge on TikTok with several local and international artists such as ENHYPEN's Jungwon and Katseye, among others.
SB19 is composed of Pablo, Stell, Ken, Josh, and Justin. The group recently celebrated their sixth anniversary with a two-night thanksgiving concert over the weekend.
