CJ Opiaza talks about significance of beauty pageants in her Miss Grand International speech
Miss Grand International has released CJ Opiaza’s 30-second speech for this year’s pageant.
In the short clip, the Filipina beauty answered the question, "Do you think beauty pageants are still necessary in a world that has progressed so far?"
“No matter how progressed the world is, there is a need to hold beauty pageants. It’s more than just a facade of beauty. It is a powerful platform for women to amplify their voices and raise causes close to their hearts. In today’s society, where representation and diversity are more important than ever, beauty pageants can empower women to break stereotypes and redefine what it truly means to be beautiful inside and out,” CJ said.
CJ wore a red embellished halter dress with a front cutout, which came with a pair of matching gloves. She completed her look with a sleek updo and dangling earrings.
CJ was crowned Miss Grand Philippines 2024 in September. She is vying for the country’s first-ever Miss Grand International crown.
She arrived in Thailand earlier this month for the international pageant and impressed Miss Grand International president Nawat Itsaragrisil during her Grand Voice performance.
In the national costume competition, she paid homage to the national leaf anahaw with a green and gold ensemble and matching headdress created by Patrick Isorena.
The Miss Grand International 2024 coronation night will be held on October 25 in Bangkok, Thailand.
