CJ Opiaza wears anahaw-inspired National Costume for Miss Grand International 2024

CJ Opiaza paid homage to the Philippine national leaf, the anahaw, at the National Costume Competition of the Miss Grand International 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday.

The Filipina beauty queen strutted the stage wearing a gold and green ensemble with a matching headdress embellished with anahaw-shaped fabrics and golden crystals designed by Patrick Isorena.

“A quintessence of valor, hard work, and ultimate victory -- the round-leaf fountain palm, or most commonly known in the Philippines as 'Anahaw', is a Philippine national symbol that denotes Filipino strength of character, champion mindset and good fruits of labor,” CJ said.

According to CJ, the costume was crafted “from a creative perspective representing every Filipino’s spirit of resiliency.”

“Hand crafted with thousands of golden crystals and hardware, that comes with an embellishment of fabrics that are shaped into leaves. The ensemble was made with the colors of gold and green, paying homage to the vivacious colors of the Miss Grand International,” she added.

CJ arrived in Thailand earlier this month for the international pageant and impressed Miss Grand International president Nawat Itsaragrisil during her Grand Voice performance.

She was also among the first 10 candidates to enter the competition’s Top 20 Best in Swimsuit.

CJ was crowned Miss Grand Philippines 2024 in September.

The Miss Grand International 2024 coronation night will be held on October 25 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Before becoming Miss Grand Philippines 2024, CJ was the first runner-up in Miss Universe Philippines 2023.
