What is pet aquamation? An eco-friendly alternative to cremation

Aside from flame cremation, there is an eco-friendly way to process the remains of your fur babies.

As seen on Dano Tingcungco's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, fur mom Jennie Antonio decided to have her late dog Inqy undergo pet aquamation, which uses alkaline water to cremate pets.

"Kapag nilagay mo siya doon, after three to four hours lalabas na siyang bones. After [papatuyuin] na siya. Ganoon lang siya. Nakahiga lang," aquamation supervisor and technician Jaymon Felix said.

Unlike cremation, aquamation releases white ashes. It uses less chemicals, making it friendlier for the environment.

"Sunog kasi, may naglalabas sila ng usok. 'Yong water natin na ginagamit natin na dine-drain na tubig ay pinapadala namin sa province para ipangtanim," Felix said.

Aside from the ashes, fur parents can have other memorabilia such as paw prints, furs, and teeth that don't decay to remember their loyal companions.
