Philippines' Jasmin Bungay is Miss Globe 2nd runner-up
Jasmin Bungay finished as the 2nd runner-up in Miss Globe 2024 at the coronation night held in Albania.
Colombia's Diana Moreno won the crown, beating 42 beauty queens at the competition.
The Philippines' bet received her crown and sash in a silver beaded, winter-inspired gown by Louis Pangilinan.
Prior to the crowning, Jasmin donned a sexy orange beaded evening gown with a feather boa by Harvey Cenit, and a spring-inspired look featuring bright pink flowers.
For the question and answer portion, Jasmin was asked, “As technology changes quickly, how can we make sure we keep real human connections and show empathy in our daily lives?”
Jasmin answered, “I believe that with the advancement of technology and also with the abuse that is [prevalent] now in the technological world, I believe to be empathic is to live in the moment, to make sure that every moment is treasured, not on the screen, but in real life. Because only when we have real connections, only when we connect with each other face to face, physically, then we can feel each other, and we can [experience] the fullness of life. Thank you.”
Jasmin won the Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2024 crown in July.
The Kapampangan beauty advocates for the empowerment of overseas Filipino workers and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
She flew to Albania in September for the international pageant.
Jasmin’s National Costume, titled “Bituwing Marikit,” was dedicated to OFWs.
“Inspired by the nights when OFWs wonder and watch the night sky in the deserts of the Middle East, playing back moments and memories with their families; hoping for the fruition of their sacrifices, of their toiling,” Jasmin wrote in an Instagram post.
Jasmin vied for the Philippines' third Miss Globe crown, which was taken home by Ann Lorraine Colis and Maureen Montagne in 2015 and 2021, respectively.
