14,000 individuals in Julian-hit Batanes receive food packs, water, more from GMA Kapuso Foundation

GMA Kapuso Foundation returned to Batanes to deliver aid to the communities affected by Super Typhoon Julian.

According to "24 Oras" Friday, 14,000 individuals on Batan, Sabtang, and Itbayat islands received food packs and water through the foundation's Operation Bayanihan project.

Among the beneficiaries of the project is Gina Rarela, whose house was destroyed as Julian hit Batanes. Only the flooring of her home remained.

Another is Ledevina Cobico, who had to evacuate to her abandoned stone house to store the valuables she was able to save after the typhoon caused flooding in Uyugan.

Aside from food packs and water, GMA Kapuso Foundation also held a feeding program for the affected residents and donated medicines to the Batanes Provincial Health Office.

"Ito'y malaking tulong talaga, 'yung pagbibigay ng mga gamot kasi ma-assure natin na, alam niyo na, after disaster, hindi natin masigurado. Kailan ba darating 'yung mga supplies natin?" said Dr. Allan Sande, Batanes Provincial Health Officer II.

In the past week, GMA Kapuso Foundation also distributed relief goods and water to residents of Sabtang, Basco, and Itbayat.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
