Chelsea Manalo dazzles in green at Miss Universe send-off ceremony
Chelsea Manalo is heading soon to Mexico for the Miss Universe 2024 pageant!
According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "Balitanghali" Friday, the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 radiated positive vibes and gave a sample of her Miss Universe introduction at her send-off ceremony.
Chelsea donned a sleeveless green dress with a long train for the event, which was held Thursday at the Hilton Manila in Pasay City. She also wore her tresses down, with her pearl and crystal-studded Miss Universe Philippines crown doing the talking.
Chelsea's parents, mom Contessa and stepfather Randy Angeles, were also present at the event, as well as Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida and Miss Universe Philippines national director and Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup.
During the send-off ceremony, Chelsea shared how she'll continue being an inspiration as a woman of color, noting the importance of hearing the stories of other people.
"The story that you hear from other people, try to indulge into that because if you hear that, then you have the voice. We already have that voice, we are already impactful in so many ways. Hearing people can be already influential because you have that capacity to really realize what is happening in reality, what is happening in the society," she said.
The Bulakenya beauty was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2024 in May. She is the first Filipino-Black American candidate to ever win the Miss Universe Philippines crown.
Her advocacies include youth education and body positivity.
The Miss Universe 2024 pageant will be held this November, with the Preliminary and National Costume competition set for November 14 and the coronation night on November 16.
Good luck, Chelsea!
