Shorts and Briefs Theater Festival returns this October with 6 original musicals

Shorts and Briefs, the largest festival of short and brief musical plays, will return this October for its 10th anniversary.

"Shorts and Briefs 10: The Musical" will run from October 24 to 27 at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (TIG Blackbox), Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City. It is organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Eksena PH, a collective of artists and creators.

The festival will feature first-timers and new artists in its six original musicals, including six new composers, six new directors, and six sets of actors.

The musical plays are "Kasloy" by John Custer and Paulito Del Mundo, "Disyembre" by Axl Diego and Ray Raña, "Nakasilip na Bituin" by Gerard De Leon and Hazel Madronero, "Tala" by Martin Sarmenta and Jiezl Virmy Chua, "Ang Kuwento ni Bubuyog at ni Paru-Paro" by Aaron Alsol and Aaron Vincent Jimenez, and "Sakto Lang" by Karlo Guevarra and Migui Moreno.

"Kasloy" is about Rain and River as they confront their past, present, and future while trying to finish a song they've been working on for a long time.

"Disyembre" follows the story of Enzo, a boy who gets short-term memory loss, and his girlfriend Irene. She takes him to the UP Lantern Parade where they met, hoping that this would help him regain his memory.

"Nakasilip na Bituin" is about Kay, a woman who sacrificed her dreams for her brother, and how she deals with an opportunity that will allow her to go after her goals.

Meanwhile, "Tala" tells the story of corporate workers Ella and Katherine, who work overtime in the office instead of chasing their dreams.

"Ang Kuwento ni Bubuyog at Paru-Paro" is a love story between a bee and a butterfly who fall in love in the forest.

Lastly, "Sakto Lang" is about Daniel and Vanessa as they reconnect after meeting in a chance encounter. During their college years, the two kept their romantic feelings from each other.

Tickets to "Shorts and Briefs 10: The Musical" are priced at P600 each for all six musical plays. Tickets may be reserved by contacting 0954 395 3902.
