Over 600 families in Sabtang, Batanes affected by Julian receive relief goods, water from GMA Kapuso Foundation

More than 600 families on Sabtang Island, Batanes, who were affected by Super Typhoon Julian received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Operation Bayanihan project.

According to "24 Oras" Monday, the foundation flew all the way to Batanes on Saturday with the help of the Office of Civil Defense to deliver a bulk of relief goods and drinking water to the residents via a Philippine Air Force C130 plane.

Among those who benefitted from the project are residents of Barangay Sumnanga, also known as Fisherman's Village.

The barangay experienced heavy flooding amid the onslaught of Julian early this month, with many of the fisherfolk residents' livelihood now affected after their boats were destroyed.

Liz Pama of the Batanes Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said in the report that Julian caused great damage to the island and left water sources therein broken.

GMA Kapuso Foundation's disaster relief efforts for the communities in Batanes that were affected by Super Typhoon Julian are still ongoing.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's Operation Bayanihan project, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
