Twin farmers in Camarines Norte gain attention for their handsome Tisoy features

A pair of identical twins working as farmers in Daet, Camarines Norte have garnered attention online for their unexpectedly light skin and model-worthy good looks.

While most would expect that spending days toiling in fields under the sun would darken their skin, Edwin and Edward stand out for their Tisoy features.

In a video that recently went viral, they surprised vlogger Kalingap Rab by revealing that they could speak Tagalog, too.

In an interview on "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," the twins revealed that they hail from Davao de Oro and that they have been working as farmers since they were 11 years old.

"Hanapbuhay namin 'yung saging, rubber, tapos niyog. Ibebenta namin para may pambili ng bigas. 'Pag galing kami sa school diretso kami sa uma namin. Ang baon namin ay pagkain lang na gabi o kamote," Edward, the younger twin, said.

["Our livelihood comes from bananas, rubber, and coconuts. We sell them to buy rice. After school, we go straight to the farm. Our only food for the day would be gabi or sweet potatoes."]

Their goal is to give back to their neighbor, Henry, for helping them in their studies.

"Determinado silang mag-aral na handa silang magsakripisyo, kaya naano ako na tulungan sila," Henry Hermocilla, a pastor, said.

["They're determined to study and willing to sacrifice, which made me want to help them."]

The 20-year-old brothers, both campus heartthrobs, are currently in Grade 12 and often compete in male pageants. They've also dabbled in various jobs, from waiters to selling thrifted clothes, and even working in mining and construction.

But despite their good looks, the brothers still experienced getting bullied.

"Binubully kami, 'Australianong mahirap. Ba't kayo napadpad dito sa Philippines? 'Di kayo bagay rito.' Australianong tagabundok," Edward said.

["We get bullied. People would say, 'You're just poor Australians. What are you doing here in the Philippines? You don't belong here.' They call us 'Australians from the Mountain."]

"Minsan lang naitatanong ko rin sa sarili ko kung nandito si papa hindi sana ganito ang buhay namin," Edwin, the older twin, said.

["Sometimes I ask myself if Dad were here, our lives wouldn't be this way."]

The twins' mother, Maribel, currently resides in Laak, Davao de Oro.

She said that she met Edward and Edwin's father, Max, while she was working in an internet shop in Pampanga in 2003.

"Maputi siya, guwapo siya medyo matangkad. Blue eyes, tapos buhok niya blondie 'yung buhok niya. Gusto ko ba daw sumama sa kanya sabi ko OK lang naman," she said.

["He was fair-skinned, handsome, and somewhat tall. He had blue eyes and blond hair. When he asked if I wanted to join him, I said it was fine."]

Maribel tried to tell the Australian man that they have kids, but he wouldn't believe her.

"Kaya nasaktan talaga ako sa ginawa niya," she added.

["I was so hurt by what he did."]

She soon gave love another chance when she met Eduardo, a security guard. He promised that he would love the twins as his own, so she named the kids after him.

"Si Papa mapagmahal at maalaga. Hindi kami nakaramdam na iba ang tatay namin," Edwin said.

["He is very loving and caring. It felt like he was our biological father."]

Maribel and Eduardo also have six other children.

Edwin and Edward said that they noticed early on that they did not look like their other siblings.

"'Yung kulay ng balat namin magkaiba. At saka sa mukha, ilong, at saka sa height din," Edward said.

["Our skin color was different from theirs. Even our facial features and height were different."]

Maribel said that the brothers have asked her about their biological father, but she said that it would be difficult to find him, especially now that she no longer remembers his surname.

The KMJS team went to Pampanga to help the twins look for their father, however, no information was found about him.

Emotional, Maribel broke down in tears and asked her twins for forgiveness.

"Edwin, Edward, hindi naman ako perfect, sana mapatawad n'yo ako. Gusto ko na talaga na magkita sila ng papa nila, hindi ko naman sinasadya 'yung mga nangyayari sa kanila," she said.

["Edwin, Edward, I'm not perfect; I hope you can forgive me. I really want you to meet your father; I never meant for any of this to happen to you."]

Edwin, however, said that he is not upset with his mother in any way.

"Wala akong tampo sa nanay ko. Sa totoo lang nagpasalamat ako sa Mama ko. Kasi nang dahil sa kanya nandito kami," he said.

["I don't feel any resentment towards her. We are here today because of her care."]

The brothers, however, remain hopeful that they will meet their biological father someday.

"Sorry, Pa, kung hindi ako marunong mag-English. Nami-miss na po kita, tatay. Kahit iniwan mo kami ni Mama, wala akong galit sa'yo kahit konti," Edwin said.

["Sorry, Dad, for not being able to speak English. I really miss you. Even though you left us with Mom, I don't feel angry at all."]

Edward added, "Sa mga nakakilala sa tatay ko, sana matulungan ninyo kami na mahanap ang tatay namin. Kung sino man kaibigan ni Mama dati baka nakilala ninyo si Papa dati. Sana matulungan ninyo po kami na makita namin 'yung Papa namin."

["Whoever knows our father, please help us find him. Maybe some of our mother's old friends might recognize him. Please help us find our father."] —JCB, GMA Integrated News
