'Balota' starring Marian Rivera drops new teaser ahead of cinema return

"Balota" has released a new teaser ahead of its return to cinemas!

In the 30-second video released by GMA Pictures on Tuesday, Marian Rivera can be seen wearing her uniform as Teacher Emmy. She is also shown to be handcuffed to the ballot to avoid vote-switching.

"Tatlong taon sa gitna ng eleksyon wala naman kaming boses eh. Wala namang nakikinig sa 'min," she says in the voice over.

"Pero etong araw na 'to 'yung boses ko kasing lakas ng boses n'yo. Kaya nga ako teacher eh."

Marian won the Best Actress award at the Cinemalaya Film Festival last month for her performance in the film. She shared the award with Gabby Padilla.

"Balota" is one of the box office hits at Cinemalaya 2024. It will be screened in Philippine cinemas again starting October 16 with a new cut.

The film will also have its international premiere at the Hawaii International Film Festival next month.

Aside from Marian, the "Balota" cast includes Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Sassa Gurl, Esnyr, Raheel Bhyria, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Mae Paner, and Gardo Versoza.

"Balota" was directed by Kip Oebanda. It was produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Entertainment Group.
