Sophia of KATSEYE on ‘Touch’ making it to Billboard PH’s Hot 100: ‘It’s so surreal’

KATSEYE is already making waves globally just two months since its debut, and even made it to Billboard Philippines’ Hot 100 chart with the single “Touch" last month.

During KATSEYE's first-ever media conference in the Philippines on Tuesday, the global girl group’s leader and lone Filipina member, Sophia Laforteza, said that it felt so surreal.

“It’s actually insane that you just said that,” Sophia said. “I took a deep breath when you said that. It’s so surreal.”

“I feel like ‘Touch’ resonating with people, a lot of it comes from its sound and the choreography, and I feel like just how much we put into it and the intention. We’re so, so grateful,” she said.

According to Sophia, they feel so happy that people are resonating with their song.

“Everytime we see it on our TikTok or on our Instagram, we send each other endless links to videos on our group chat of just people doing covers and people doing public covers,” she said, adding that it truly warms her heart.

KATSEYE will be in the Philippines until September 19. The girls will be having a fan showcase titled "KATSEYE: Touchdown in Manila" on September 18, 6 p.m., at Ayala Malls Market! Market! in Taguig City.

Sophia from the Philippines, Daniela, Lara, and Megan from the United States, Manon from Switzerland, and Yoonchae from South Korea debuted as KATSEYE in late June this year.

KATSEYE released its debut EP, “SIS (Soft Is Strong),” on August 16. It included the viral hits “Touch” and “Debut.”
