Heart Evangelista, Alden Richards, more stars who are proud fur parents to aspins

Pets play an important role in their human counterpart's lives. Simply put, they offer companionship, unwavering loyalty, and, most importantly, emotional support.

Earlier, a pet owner went viral online for being unable to dine at Balay Dako in Tagaytay because of her dog's Yoda's breed and weight.

Her post sparked discussions online, with some saying that aspins, or asong Pinoy (Philippine native dog), should receive the same treatment as other breeds.

Heart Evangelista

One of the celebrities who went vocal and sent support to Yoda for the unfortunate incident was Heart Evangelista, who is a long-time advocate of stray animals and has an aspin named Panda.

Panda is a consistent part of Heart's social media content. Last month, the famous aspin went viral for wearing one of Heart's luxurious necklaces.

In 2021, Heart thanked Panda for keeping her company while she suffered from an anxiety attack.

Aside from Heart, here are other celebrities who are proud owners of aspins.

Alden Richards

Just like Heart, Alden Richards is also an advocate for stray animals and an owner of an aspin dog.

In 2022, Alden called for fair treatment towards aspin as part of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society's (PAWS) "I Love My AsPin campaign."

Jodi Sta. Maria

Jodi Sta. Maria has been very public about her admiration for dogs and cats. After adopting a stray cat at the airport, the actress recently adopted an aspin she spotted at work. She named it Baby Z.

"You are safe now little Z. Mommy will love and protect you," she said.

Jessica Soho

When Yoda's issue made the rounds on social media, Kapuso journalist Jessica Soho took to Instagram to express her love for her aspin pet, Sherlock.

“Ang aspin, tulad ng ibang aso, dapat minamahal at inaalagaan,” she said.

Sharon Cuneta

Sharon Cuneta is also among those celebrities who publicly support the causes of The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). In 2021, she adopted a stray aspin and got him a Louis Vuitton collar all the way from Italy.
