GMA News Online managing editor Lou Albano joins Earth Journalism Network’s Climate Change fellowship

Jhoanna Lou Albano, GMA News Online managing editor for the lifestyle section, has been named among the journalists chosen to be Earth Journalism Network’s (EJN) Climate Change Media Partnership program members.

The chosen fellows will attend and report on the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) happening this November.

Albano will participate in “orientation activities, daily briefings, interviews with high-level officials, and other interactions to inform and facilitate quality reporting as countries develop and submit new Nationally Determined Contributions and longer-term strategies to cut emissions and adapt to climate impacts," according to EJN.

The Climate Change Media Partnership program, organized by EJN and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, “provides journalists increased understanding of and ability to cover climate issues.”

The only member chosen from the Philippines, Albano will join journalists from Uganda, Syria, Pakistan, Bhutan, and Brazil, among others, during the fellowship's run from November 9 to 24 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Previously, Albano was featured on Tatler Philippines for her contributions to climate journalism in the Philippines.

In 2022, the Kapuso journalist joined the Oxford Climate Journalism Network’s second cohort. She was also named among the fellows chosen for the joint US-Asia cohort of the Asian American Journalists Association’s 2022 Executive Leadership Program.
