GMA Network bags multiple trophies at 12th PMAP Makatao Awards

GMA Network picked up several trophies at the 12th PMAP Makatao Awards for Media Excellence by the People Management Association of the Philippines held at Hilton Manila on Wednesday.

Maki Pulido won the Best TV News Program Host for State of the Nation of GTV. A veteran journalist whose career spans three decades, Maki has been anchoring the State of the Nation newscast with Atom Araullo. This is her first award as a news anchor.

Connie Sison meanwhile picked up the Best Radio News Program Host for the radio program "One on One Walang Personalan" of DzBB.

Meanwhile, the special documentary "Secret Slaves: Jessica Soho Report on Human Trafficking" was hailed the Best TV Public Affairs Program. Hosted by the country's most trusted and most awarded broadcast journalist Jessica Soho and joined by senior news correspondents Emil Sumangil and John Consulta, "Secret Slaves" investigated the billion-dollar industry of human trafficking that recruits Filipinos to work as customer support representatives, only to be forced to trick individuals into investing in cryptocurrency.

Meanwhile "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" received special citation in social media for the "Paglaya sa Kadena" episode, which aired in April 2024. It follows Jane, from Sultan Kudarat, who endures a psychotic disorder.

Maki and Connie received their respective awards, while program manager Ian Simbulan received the award in behalf of "Secret Slaves." Program manager Joselito Tan, segment producer Julius Cayabyab and program researcher Krysthel Dalanon received the award for KMJS.

The PMAP Makatao Awards honor various people and members of the mass media for their outstanding contributions to enhancing public understanding of the role and impact of good people management.
