Heart Evangelista shares insights on animal welfare at Global Youth Summit 2024

Heart Evangelista was among the key opinion leaders and experts who shared their insights at the recent Global Youth Summit 2024.

According to GMA Integrated News’ Nelson Canlas, the Kapuso Global Fashion Icon discussed animal welfare in her talk.

Heart was also accompanied by her fur baby, Panda.

According to Heart, her journey began because of her dad, who often picked up and cared for stray dogs and cats.

“When we talk about animals or pets, a lot of people think that it’s very shallow, it’s not really a priority. And I understand that because there are other problems that the country is facing,” she said. “So, slowly but surely, and I think people also started to understand that, it started to change."

On Instagram, Heart also posted a video from the Global Youth Summit. In the clip, she advised the youth not to be afraid, adding that it does not matter if they get bashed as long as they have a purpose and are helping others.

Heart also reminded the youth that it is okay to make mistakes.

"To all of the young people out there, take your time, okay lang magkamali, kaya niyo 'yan bawiin. Don't pressure yourself too much. Believe in yourself and keep going. Nothing is impossible," she said.

Heart has long been an advocate of animal welfare.

In 2022, she visited an animal shelter in Sorsogon, which gives free anti-rabies vaccinations and neutering services.

During the Taal eruption in 2020, Heart reminded pet owners of their responsibility to keep their animal companions safe.

She also joined the Philippine Animal Welfare Society in rescuing dogs that were affected by the eruption.

Heart currently heads the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc.

Under her leadership, she said they will focus more on women and children, and they will look back on the small infrastructure projects that the previous leaderships have initiated.
