SB19 envisions international recognition for P-Pop, hopes to improve PH entertainment
SB19 is dreaming for a bright future not just for their group, but also for the entire music industry in the Philippines.
In Part 1 of their sit-down interview with "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" at the headquarters of1Z Entertainment, which aired on Monday, group leader Pablo talked about their vision for OPM.
"''Pag pumunta ka sa iba't ibang lugar, sasabihin nila sobrang talentado ng mga Pilipino pero parang feeling ko hindi pa natin nakukuha 'yung recognition na dapat para sa atin," he said.
"'Yung future po na gusto namin is... magkaroon ng term na tinatawag na P-POP na talagang dadayuhin na 'yung mga foreigner na 'yung pupunta dito para panoorin 'yung concerts natin."
Pablo said there are now many groups emerging and becoming famous all over the world, like BINI, so this vision is within reach.
"Maraming possible na mangyari once na mabuksan 'yung door and hindi tayo malayo dun, nakabukas na siya eh kailangan na ang siya itulak," he said.
Josh, meanwhile, said that they established 1Z Entertainment, their own company, so they can make contributions to the country's music scene.
"Meron kaming pinangangaalagaan na future goal po talaga and 'yun po talaga yung for us endgame syempre, na hindi lang siya matatapos dahil sa grupo lang namin, na in the future mas maganda pa po 'yung industry ng entertainment dito sa Pilipinas," he said.
SB19 debuted in 2018. Composed of Pablo, Josh, Ken, Stell, and Justin, the group is known for their songs "GENTO," "MAPA," and "Kalakal."
The group and its fandom A'TIN recently won the Billboard Fan Army Face-Off 2024, bagging the honors for the second year in a row.
SB19 is set to release a documentary film about their "Pagtatag!" era in cinemas from August 28 to September 1.
