Hidilyn Diaz, Iya Villania, Isabelle Daza, more show support for EJ Obiena after 2024 Paris Olympics stint

Hidilyn Diaz, Iya Villania, Isabelle Daza, and other celebrities and personalities have reacted to EJ Obiena's 4th place finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics' pole vault competition.

On Instagram, the World No. 2 and Asia's best pole vault athlete apologized to Filipinos and his supporters after he fell short of clinching an Olympic medal.

However, in the comment section, celebrities poured their support for EJ, with some saying that his apology is unnecessary and that his career is far from over.

Among them was Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn, who told EJ that she's looking forward to his participation in the next Olympics.

"Looking forward sa #LA2028. You did your best to represent the Philippines at the Olympics. See you soon," said Hidilyn.

"Chika Minute" host Iya also expressed her pride and respect for EJ.

"We are still so proud of you! Nothing but respect for all your hard work! None of it goes to waste," Iya commented.

For Isabelle, EJ is a trailblazer in the Philippines' sports industry, especially in pole vault.

"Without you, we wouldn't have even been [qualified]," Isabelle said.

Meanwhile, Solenn Heussaff's husband Nico Bolzico, who's long been a supporter of EJ, said, "This is a step, brother!"

On the other hand, U.S.-based Filipino content creator Oliver (@otakoyakisoba) said EJ "made every Filipino proud" and that he's hopeful for the athlete's comeback in the 2028 LA Olympics.

"Don't ever feel that you have to say sorry. Your hard work and your determination [are] evident," Olly wrote.

"Thank you for what you do and what you will continue to do. We hope to see you in LA!" he added.

Earlier, EJ said he has yet to decide on his return to the Olympics in 2028.

You did us all proud, EJ!
