Samantha Bernardo reminisces gymnastics days as Carlos Yulo wins double gold at Olympics
Before becoming a beauty queen, Samantha Bernardo was a gymnast first.
On Instagram, the Miss Grand International 2020 1st runner-up shared that she was a gymnast for nine years, winning five gold medals and becoming an overall champion at eight years old.
The beauty queen shared an old clip of her doing some cartwheels as she paid tribute to Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo for bringing home two golds at 2024 Paris Olympics.
“POV: When [Carlos Yulo] won Olympics medals and you're being nostalgic," she wrote. "At a young age, gymnastics taught me how to be disciplined, determined and to dream big!”
The Palaweña also honored the Filipino athletes competing at the Paris Games.
“Mabuhay ang mga atletang Pilipino sa #Paris2024. Sana mas marami pang mga bata at kabataan ang mahilig sa sports!” she ended.
Samantha married her longtime boyfriend Scott Moore in April 2024.
Meanwhile, Carlos bagged the gold medal for the vault finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday evening.
This comes at the heels of Carlos’s historic gold medal victory in men’s floor exercise on Saturday, making him the first-ever Filipino to win two gold medals at the Olympics in Philippine history.
