Cinemalaya cancels 'Lost Sabungeros' screenings due to 'security concerns'
Cinemalaya has canceled the scheduled screenings of GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures documentary "Lost Sabungeros" due to "security concerns."
The film festival announced the development on Sunday.
"Lost Sabungeros" were supposed to be screened on August 8 at 5 p.m. at Ayala Malls Manila Bay Cinema 2 and August 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Cinema 8.
According to Cinemalaya, GMA Pictures film "Balota" starring Marian Rivera will replace the August 8 screening.
"Lost Sabungeros" is the first-ever investigative documentary film of GMA Public Affairs. It is directed by homegrown executive producer and director Bryan Kristoffer Brazil.
The documentary looks into the disappearance of over 30 sabungeros who have been missing since 2021.
The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival runs from August 2 to 11.
