‘Balota’ starring Marian Rivera drops exclusive pasilip ahead of Cinemalaya

A day before its Cinemalaya run, “Balota” dropped a short exclusive pasilip from the film.

In the 13-second emotional teaser, the bruised and wounded Emmy (Marian Rivera) could be seen having a phone call.

“Nandito lang ako,” Emmy said while sobbing.

On the other end of the line is Emmy’s son, Enzo (Will Ashley), who is seemingly being threatened by a man pointing a gun to his head.

“Magpaalam na daw ako, ma,” Enzo said before the short clip was cut off.

“Balota” also stars Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Sassa Gurl, Esnyr, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Mae Paner, and Gardo Versoza.

It follows a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.

Emmy is a teacher who serves in the election. She runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results, when violence in their town erupts.

“Balota” is directed by award-winning filmmaker Kip Oebanda, and will screen at the Cinemalaya Film Festival from August 2 to 11.
