Franki Russell unpins Miss Universe New Zealand appointment photos after franchise holder's cancellation
Miss Universe New Zealand franchise holder, House of Yugen, have canceled their franchise for this year.
Managing director Ian Borromeo made the announcement through an official statement dated July 30.
"As a result of our team's non-compliance with a specific order from the Miss Universe Organization, we have decided to cancel the franchise held by Yugen PR for Miss Universe New Zealand for 2024," he said.
Following this, Miss Universe New Zealand's supposed representative at the upcoming pageant, Franki Russell, unpinned her sashing ceremony post on her Instagram account.
The Filipina-Kiwi actress was given the title last March.
In June, Franki attended the Cannes Film Festival wearing a gown by Filipino designer Harvey Cenit.
Franki was born to a New Zealander-European father and a Filipina mother. She grew up in Dunedin, New Zealand.
She moved to Sydney, Australia when she was 18 years old with her older brother and then moved to the Philippines in 2019 to work as a model and eventually became an actress.
Among Franki's recent projects include the movie "Pabuya" with her ex-boyfriend, Diego Loyzaga.
