'Haikyuu' theme song plays during Japan vs. Argentina volleyball match at Paris Olympics
Life imitates art in the Japan vs. Argentina showdown at the Paris Olympics 2024!
Japan on Wednesday emerged victorious against their opponents during the men's preliminary round volleyball match.
The reason why the match is making waves online, however, is because it reminded fans of popular manga and anime "Haikyuu." The story had ended with Japan, led by Hinata Shouyou and Kageyama Tobio, facing off against Argentina, whose setter was none other than Oikawa Toruu.
Not only that, the well-loved opening theme song "Fly High" was heard playing at the South Paris Arena when Team Japan won!
Japanese volleyball star Yuji Nishida previously revealed that "Haikyuu" is his favorite anime.
"Haikyuu" is based on the manga by Haruichi Furudate that ended in July 2020. The anime adaptation began airing in 2014.
In May, the film "Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle" arrived in Philippine cinemas. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
