Cainta, Malabon, Navotas residents hit by Typhoon Carina receive relief packs from GMA Kapuso Foundation


GMA Kapuso Foundation continued to deliver aid to communities affected by Super Typhoon Carina and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) through its Operation Bayanihan project.

According to "24 Oras," Monday, more than 1,000 families in Cainta, Rizal, received food packs, mats, and blankets through the foundation, as well as porridge, bread, and drinking water.

Last week, the foundation also took to Malabon and Navotas where they distributed relief packs donated by Kapuso stars.

In Malabon, residents were delivered food packs donated by Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes and  lugaw donated by Alden Richards, with a total of 4,200 individuals having received aid.

Last week, Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Batangas, and Cavite were placed under a state of calamity amid heavy rainfall and massive flooding brought by Carina and the Habagat.

It's estimated that 3.6 million people were left affected by the combined impact of the Habagat, Carina, and Tropical Cyclone Butchoy in the past week, as of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday.

Most of the residents affected came from Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, damage and losses sustained by the agriculture sector due to Carina and the Habagat hit nearly P400 million, according to the Department of Agriculture on July 26.
