Heart Evangelista's reaction on being Senate Spouses Foundation president: 'Umiyak ako'

Heart Evangelista admitted that she cried when she found out that she will be heading the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SPFI).

On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the Global Fashion Icon said that she got a little bit upset and panicked at first.

"Na-upset ako ng konti. Nag-panic talaga ako kasi alam ko na you know anything you associate yourself with that, you'll get bashed. I'm afraid of that so I tried to shy away," Heart shared.

Despite this, the Sparkle star said that she is loving her new role now.

"I love it so much because I do my own thing. Mayroon akong mga ginagawa para you know 'yung points ko sa heaven ay mas importante," the new SPFI head said, adding that through this platform, she will be able to do so much with other senate spouses.

"I'm also very lucky that I worked with wonderful companies in the past that are all out [supporting] my projects. So talaga parang feeling ko I have a purpose. I'm not sure how long I have but I will do my best and I love working," she said.

In June, Heart took the oath as the new head of the SPFI.

She shared that she asked some advice from her husband, Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero as she admitted being nervous about taking the position.

According to Evangelista, she has communicated with her predecessor, Audrey Tan-Zubiri, whom she said was "very graceful and very supportive."

Under her leadership, Evangelista said they will focus more on women and children and they will look back on the small infrastructure projects that the previous leaderships have initiated.
