Julie Anne San Jose, SB19's Stell thank fans for supporting donation drive for Typhoon Carina victims
Julie Anne San Jose and SB19's Stell were full of gratitude for everyone who supported the donation drive held at their JulieXStell: Ang Ating Tinig concert for the benefit of those affected by Typhoon Carina and Habagat.
On the first night of their concert on Saturday at the New Frontier Theater, fans dropped several boxes and packs of in-kind donations. Some also contributed cash at the donation booth organized in partnership with GMA Kapuso Foundation, 1Z Entertainment, and A'TIN.
"Nagpapasalamat din po kami sa lahat ng nag-donate sa ating fund-raising para sa mga nasalanta ng Bagyong Carina. Ongoing pa rin ang pagtanggap ng donations either in-kind or in cash," Julie said.
"Thank you so much for blessing us with your support and being a blessing for those who are in need," she added.
Stell also thanked everyone for attending their concert, acknowledging that the days leading up to the show were trying for everyone as the heavy rains and flooding displaced thousands of families.
"We owe this to you," he said.
The donation drive continues on the second day of the Ang Ating Tinig concert on Sunday. Preferred in-kind donations include canned goods like sardines, corned beef, beef loaf, and other halal variants, vacuum-packed rice, and noodles not expiring within four months.
The National Capital Region and four other provinces were placed under state of calamity last week due to the massive flooding from the heavy rainfall brough by Habagat, which was enhanced by Typhoon Carina.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, over 3.6 million people were affected by the combined impact of Tropical Cyclones Butchoy and Carina and the Southwest Monsoon.
The agricultural sector also reached almost P400 million in losses, the Department of Agriculture said.
