Heart Evangelista leads distribution of relief goods in Marikina evacuation center
Heart Evangelista on Friday led the distribution of relief goods in Sto. Niño Elementary School in Marikina City.
In photos by GMA Integrated News' Nelson Canlas, the President of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SPFI) could be seen handing out food to the evacuees, who took shelter in the school after floods hit Metro Manila.
According to her Instagram Stories, Heart and her team started repacking the donations as early as Thursday morning. She thanked fellow Senate Spouses member Kathy Pimentel for picking up the relief goods from her home, that they were going to distribute today, Friday.
Heart is among the Kapuso stars that have mobilized to help victims of Carina.
Apart from donating proceeds from the recently concluded GMA Gala, Sparkle has also teamed up with GMA Kapuso Foundation for its Operation Bayanihan. Navy reservists Dingdong Dantes, Rocco Nacino and Beatrice Luigi Gomez also joined the Kapuso Foundation and lent their helping hand in distributing relief goods.
Carina and the southwest monsoon (habagat) brought heavy rainfall to Luzon and other regions of the Philippines in the past few days. The super typhoon has since weakened to a tropical storm.
Meanwhile, Heart started working with the SPFI in May and took her oath as the new president in June.
She attended President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s recently concluded State of the Nation Address (SONA) with her husband, Senate President Chiz Escudero.
