Super Typhoon Carina: Where to donate to help affected communities

Tropical cyclone Carina has intensified into a super typhoon on Wednesday as it caused intense flooding in several areas in Metro Manila, which was earlier placed under a state of calamity.

Many malls and establishments have since offered free overnight parking, Wi-Fi, and phone charging stations, while here is a list of hotlines you may call for emergencies.

Several organizations and groups have also released calls for donations to relief efforts in support of communities affected by the super typhoon. Here is a list of places where you can donate to.

Community Pantry PH

Ana Patricia Non of the Community Pantry PH network shared that they are currently preparing a kitchen to bring hot meals to evacuation centers.

Monetary donations may be sent via GCash at 0945 145 4390 (AP N).

Ana also shared a suggested market list for those who wish to donate basic ingredients to evacuation centers.

Bahaghari

Bahaghari, the Philippine alliance of LGBTQ+ organizations, alsocalled for donations as they conduct relief operations for affected communities. Donations may be made via GCash and BPI through these QR codes.

In-kind donations (rice, vitamins, canned goods, first aid materials) may be sent to #35 Scout Delgado, Brgy. Laging Handa, Quezon City.

GMA Kapuso Foundation

The GMA Kapuso Foundation has begun its Operation Bayanihan initiative to help those affected by Super Typhoon Carina. 

Cash donations via various banks are welcome, as well as through Lazada and Shopee, where interested donors can help by buying donation vouchers for as low as P10. 

GCash is also an option, as Cebuana Lhullier, which also accepts remittances for GMA Kapuso Foundation for free at any of its 3,000 branches. You may also donate using your Metrobank Credit Card.

All donations are 100% tax deductable.

Plushies For Hope

Plushies For Hope launched a donation drive for relief efforts in Bulacan. Donations may be made via GCash and MAYA (0915 275 6371), BDO (001040260983), BPI (4739504334), and UnionBank (109667410351).

For in-kind donations like clothes and food, please contact 0915 275 6371.

AGHAM - Advocates of Science and Technology for the People

AGHAM, in cooperation with Brigada Kalikasan and Science and Technology Network for People's Development is also calling for donations.

Donations may be sent via BPI or GCash through these QR codes. The donations will be used to provide immediate relief, such as hot meals, to communities in Payatas, Montalban, and, Commonwealth.

Tulong Kabataan PH Disaster Response Center

Tulong Kabataan PH Disaster Response Center, Inc., along with United Marikina Community Fire and Rescue Volunteer, are in need for cash and in-kind donations to provide essential supplies, rescue operations, and immediately relief to affected communities.

Donations may be sent via UnionBank (1096 6083 8825 - Earl Benz Molina) and GCash ( 0921 889 1348 - Anna Kristina M.).

In-kind donations may be sent to the USC Office of University of the Philippines (UP) Manila (Coordinator: 09164150726 Kyla Sofia Benedicto), as well as Leong Hall at the Ateneo de Manila University (Coordinator: 09151237788 - Kenneth Amores).

Concerted Artists of the Philippines for PAMALAKAYA Communities

Coastal communities and families along Manila Bay are also in need of help. Concerned Artists of the Philippines launched a donation drive to support the Pamalakaya communities in Navotas and Cavite.

Monetary donations may be sent via the QR code.

In-kind donations (rice, canned goods, noodles, drinking water, coffee) may be dropped off at the Guard Lobby Area of the College of Social Work and Community Development in UP Diliman.

Kadamay

Community organization Kadamay is also accepting cash and in-kind donations for the urban poor communities in Metro Manila.

Cash donations may be made via GCash (0932 462 2872 - Eufemia D.) and BPI (1909 0884 17 - Janina G.)

In-kind donations may be dropped off at 12-A Kasiyahan St., Don Antonio Heights, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City. Please contact 0907 839 9840 (Nono).

Chef Tatung

Chef Myke "Tatung" Sarthou is also seeking donations and volunteers to aid communities hit by Super Typhoon Carina.

Interested volunteers may join the Sulong Simpol #BagyongCarina Community Messenger.

In-kind donations may be dropped off at Azadore Restaurant, 111 Sct. Fernandez cor. Sct. Torillo, Quezon City.

Angat Buhay

NGO Angat Buhay has partnered with Tanging Yaman Foundation (TYFI)  to support ongoing relief efforts for amid the super typhoon.

All donations for Angat Buhay may be directed to TYFI. Donations will be used to provide essential supplies, medical assistance and other forms of aid.

Cash donations may be sent via BPI and GCash through QR codes and Metrobank (448 7 44801314 2 - Tanging Yaman Foundation, Inc.)

Urban Chick Maginhawa

You can sponsor a bowl of lugaw for P25 at Urban Chick Maginhawa. This will be delivered to in evacuation centers in Quezon City.

You may send your donation through GCash at 09164119532 (Jerecel Catherine Socorro Guiang).

As of writing, Urban Chick has collected P266,393.64 for 10,656 bowls of lugaw.

StarTRUCK

Jennylyn Mercado and her husband Dennis Trillo began StarTRUCK as a relief operation effort for the victims of Typhoon Odette back in 2021.

The couple reactivated StarTRUCK this year to help those affected by the heavy rains and flooding caused by the Supertyphoon Carina-enhanced Habagat.

Philippine Red Cross

The Philippine Red Cross has mobilized its emergency response teams to rescue those affected by the floods and deliver essentials like food and water.

For those who wish to contribute in their relief and rescue efforts, the organization is accepting donations via BDO, Metrobank, BPI, Security Bank, and Asia United Bank.

"Donations are most welcome for us to reach more people and save lives," Red Cross said.
