Eraserheads documentary trailer to premiere at San Diego Comic-Con 2024

Eraserheads documentary trailer to premiere at San Diego Comic-Con 2024

The trailer for the upcoming documentary about the Eraserheads is premiering this week at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2024 in California, United States. The SDCC will run from July 25 to 28.

"Eraserheads: Combo on the Run," named after one of the songs in the band's 1993 "Ultraelectromagneticpop!" album, is led by DVent Productions CEO and filmmaker Maria Diane Ventura.

The documentary is about "an unlikely group of disbanded punks" who reunited in 2022 during a time of political upheaval and provided reprieve to a country in the face of uncertainty.

Aside from the premiere of the trailer, Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia will also be at the SDCC on July 26 PDT (July 27 in Philippine time) to join the artists behind the award-winning "Lumpia" movie and comic book series for a huge panel, called "Tales of Deejays and Eraserheads in the Lumpia Deep-Fried Universe."

The artists will talk about their new comic "The Ones and Twos," as well as their current issue of "The Legendary Lumpia Squad," which features the legendary Eraserheads.

Ely will be alongside "Lumpia" writer and director Patricio Ginelsa, comic artist Whilce Portacio, actor Ed Baon, Dr. DJ Kuttin Kandi, and Maria for the panel.

He will also be with the group for the autograph and comic book signing on the same day, with the addition of "Lumpia" artists Gerald Pilare, Cesar Cueva, and Brian "BEEE" Bello.

Last month, Maria shared about the progress of the documentary, saying the film was in the latest stages of post-production in Los Angeles and that the official trailer will drop at the SDCC.

The band is currently on the North American leg of their world tour, having just held their concert in Toronto, Canada, over the weekend.

In their performances in San Francisco and Los Angeles early this month, the Eraserheads brought out True Faith vocalist Medwin Marfil and former Rivermaya and TriAxis lead guitarist Perfecto de Castro onstage.

Last year, Ely revealed in a feature for online magazine Hiraya that there would be a documentary about the band, but said nothing more.

The Eraserheads, comprising Ely, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro, held their one-night-only "Huling El Bimbo" reunion concert in December 2022 and kicked off their world tour in 2023.
