Chiz Escudero, Heart Evangelista first to walk on red carpet at Senate opening session

Senate President Chiz Escudero and his wife Heart Evangelista were the first to walk the red carpet at the Third Regular Session of the 19th Congress on Monday morning, ahead of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s third State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Heart wore an elegant two-piece white terno by Michael Leyva. The Sparkle Star and Global Fashion Icon’s top had butterfly Filipiniana sleeves, buttons on the front, and a sweet peplum detail. She paired it with a long skirt and pulled her look togethe with a tan purse and diamond dangling earrings.

Meanwhile, Escudero donned a traditional barong with a Philippine flag pin.

President Marcos is set to deliver his third SONA on Monday afternoon.

Some of the current pressing issues include the rising conflict in the West Philippine Sea against global superpower China, which has prompted Manila to lodge diplomatic protests against Beijing, and officials from both countries to hold a bilateral meeting to manage the ongoing disputes in the region.

Heart serves as the new president of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SPFI). She started working with the organization in May and took her oath in June.

Before SONA, Heart and Chiz appeared at the GMA Gala in Pasay City on Saturday.
