'Green Bones' among first 5 finalists for Metro Manila Film Festival 2024

The Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 has announced the first five finalists that qualified for this year's festivities based on their scripts.

Among them is "Green Bones," a film produced by GMA Pictures and Public Affairs. It will star Dennis Trillo and Sofia Pablo.

"Green Bones" will be directed by Zig Dulay, the filmmaker behind MMFF 2023 Best Picture "Firefly" starring Euwenn Mikaell and Alessandra de Rossi.

The screenplay was written by National Artist Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza, while the story is by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs.

"It's from the same makers of 'Firefly.' Same creative team pero, of course ito naman ay minentor ito ni Sir Ricky Lee kaya may pagka malalim talaga 'tong pelikulang ito, feel good," said GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes.

"Talagang we want to give another very, very good quality film for this year's Metro Manila Film Festival," she added.

She also said another big star will join Dennis and Sofia on the film.

"Surprise kung sino 'yung isa, we will announce it soon. May katandem diyan si Dennis Trillo," she said.

Other movie entries that made it are "And the breadwinner is…" directed by Jun Robles Lana starring Vice Ganda and Eugene Domingo; "Strange Frequencies: Haunted Hospital" by Kerwin Go starring Enrique Gil, Jane De Leon, and Rob Gomez; "Himala: Isang Musikal," by Pepe Diokno starring Aicelle Santos and Bituin Escalante, and "The Kingdom" by Michael Tuvera starring Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual.
