Annette Gozon-Valdes on GMA Gala 2024: 'We want to celebrate Philippine pride'
GMA Gala 2024 is all about Philippine pride.
In a seven-minute mini-documentary uploaded by Sparkle on YouTube, GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes talked about the goals of this year's GMA Gala.
"We want to celebrate Philippine pride this year also, especially since we have this very big upcoming drama 'Pulang Araw,'" Gozon-Valdes said.
"We want to instill a sense of nationalism to continue the legacy of 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' and I think that's very important especially given our current situation. It's important especially for the youth to be proud of their heritage, and to be proud of their nation," she added.
"Pulang Araw" is a family drama series set during World War II. It stars Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, Alden Richards, and Dennis Trillo.
Meanwhile, "Maria Clara at Ibarra" is a historical portal fantasy series set in the world of Dr. Jose Rizal's novels, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo."
Now in its third year, the GMA Gala will be happening on Saturday, July 20.
The star-studded GMA Gala was first launched in July 2022 to celebrate GMA Network's 72nd anniversary.
In its second year in 2023, the gala was attended by not only Kapuso personalities but also by Kapamilya artists like Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, and Joshua Garcia.
Previously, the GMA Gala held its first ever pre-gala dinner where some of the brightest Kapuso stars gathered to oomph up the enthusiasm for the upcoming GMA Gala 2024.
