BGC addresses Yi Young Park pickpocketing incident, vows to remain vigilant in keeping area safe

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) has addressed the alleged pickpocketing incident in the vicinity of the central business district in Taguig involving Korean football player Yi Young Park.

In a statement sent to GMA News Online, BGC said Yi Young Park received immediate assistance from a security personnel when the incident was reported on July 4 around 6 p.m.

"The complainant, a Korean national, received immediate assistance from a BGC security officer during the incident and was offered additional support to file a police report at the Police Sub-Station inside BGC, which the complainant declined," the statement read.

"BGC remains vigilant in observing measures and actively cooperating with the local authorities to ensure that safety remains an utmost priority within its spaces," it added.

Earlier, Yi Young Park took to Instagram to share his alleged pickpocketing experience in BGC, saying he lost his wallet in the incident.

The athlete said he was on the street when six women surrounded him for quite a long time, preventing him from walking quickly. He checked his bag after feeling something strange, but by that time it was too late.

The women then dispersed in three groups in different directions. Yi Young Park chased one of them and eventually got his wallet back, but some cash was missing.

"I hope that you all remain alert and careful so that something like this never happens again. Be safe, everyone," he said.
