FDCP to screen past Cinemalaya films for free at Cinematheque Centres


The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will hold free screenings of some notable and award-winning films from Cinemalaya through the "Cinemalaya 20: A Retrospective."

The screenings are in celebration of the 20th year of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and will run from July 10 to 27 at the FDCP Cinematheque Centres in Manila, Iloilo, Negros, Davao, and Nabunturan.

Just some of the films that will be screened are "Bagahe" by award-winning Kapuso screenwriter and director Zig Dulay, "John Denver Trending" by Arden Rod Condez, "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros" by Auraeus Solitos, "Ang Nawawala" by Marie Jamora, "Respeto" by Treb Montreras, "Bwakaw" by Jun Lana, "Engkwentro" by Pepe Diokno, "Pepot Artista" by Clodualdo Del Mundo Jr., and more.

Walk-ins will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year's Cinemalaya will run from Aug. 2 to 11, and will feature 10 full-length films, including Kip Oebanda's "Balota" starring Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.

The other films are "Alipato" by JL Burgos, "Aripuen (The Servant)" by Christopher Gozum, "Gulay Lang Manong," by BC Amparado, "Kono Basho (This Place)" by Jaime Pacena II, "The Errand" by Sarge Lacuesta, "Ang Tumandok (The Inhabitants)" by Kat Sumagaysay and Richard Salvadico, "Kantil (Trench)" by Joshua Caesar Medroso, "Love Child" by Jonathan Jurilla, and "The Wedding Dance" by Julis Lumiqued.
