Hidilyn Diaz, Bianca Bustamante front Vogue PH's July issue
Who run the world? Girls!
Ahead of the Paris Olympics, Vogue Philippines focuses on the pride and passion of athletes this July with two different covers of Hidilyn Diaz and Bianca Bustamante.
Shot by Mark Nicdao, the Philippines' first Olympic gold medalist graced the first cover, wearing a dress by J. Ro Alarcio and a skirt by Dhenyze.
While she did not qualify for this year's Olympics, the 33-year-old said her love for the sport has not waned.
"I'm not done with weightlifting, but right now, my priorities are shifting slightly," Hidilyn told Vogue Philippines, expressing her intent to start a family with her husband-coach Julius Naranjo.
Meanwhile, Filipino racing wunderkind Bianca Bustamante bannered the second cover. Wearing Louis Vuitton, the 19-year-old was photographed next to the historic McLaren Senna by Sharif Hamza at the automobile company's Technology Center in England.
In 2021, Hidilyn took home the country's first Olympic gold medal after winning the women's 55-kg weightlifting event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In 2023, Bianca made "herstory" as she became the first Filipino to win an F1 Academy race in Valencia, Spain.
