Filipina talent Sophia Laforteza makes debut with girl group KATSEYE

The long wait is over because HYBE Labels’ newest girl group, KATSEYE, has finally made their debut!

On Friday, the group dropped their music video, simply titled “Debut,” on YouTube.

The two-minute video starred Sophia Laforteza from the Philippines, Daniela, Lara, and Megan from the United States, Manon from Switzerland, and Yoonchae from South Korea.

The group is also set to release their debut EP, “SIS (Soft Is Strong),” in August.

KATSEYE was formed through the reality show “The Debut: Dream Academy.” Organized by HYBE and Geffen Records, the show saw contestants take part in the K-Pop idol training system before debuting as a global girl group. Twenty aspiring idols competed, selected from 120,000 applicants from across the world.

HYBE is the agency that manages global artists like BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPEN, NewJeans, and many more.

Sophia was the only Filipino contestant and is the first Filipino artist under HYBE.

After earning her spot in KATSEYE, Sophia told her supporters, “Thank you for helping me make my dream come true.
