'Tabula Rasa,' a twin bill of puppet plays, to open this July

Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas will be staging "Tabula Rasa," a twin production of puppet plays, this July!

The production will feature "Prinsipe Bahaghari" and "Puting Gunaw," which are Vladimeir Gonzales' Filipino adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's "The Little Prince" and National Artist for Theater Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio's "White Holocaust or A Pacific Playwright's Protest against the Bomb." The twin bill will be under the direction of Aina Ramolete.

"Tabula Rasa" will run from July 12 to 14 at the Amelia Lapeña Bonifacio Teatro Papet Museum in Quezon City.

"Prinsipe Bahaghari" follows the story of a young prince and his encounters with various characters who eventually lead him to realize the meaning of his relationship with Gumamela, the flower. This puppet play is suitable for children age five years and above.

Meanwhile, "Puting Gunaw" looks into how war and killings have become commonplace and how this has affected humanity. This puppet play is suitable for children age 13 years and above.

Tickets to the production are now available and are priced at P800 ("Puting Gunaw" only), P1,000 ("Prinsipe Bahaghari" only), and P1,500 for both puppet plays.

Proceeds from "Tabula Rasa" will help in covering a portion of author Aina Ramolete's tuition expenses as she works toward a Master of Arts in Puppet Arts degree at the University of Connecticut.
