MTV News website is no longer available

The website of MTV News, the news division of American music channel MTV, appears to have shut down.

According to a report by Variety, the website containing decades of music journalism can no longer be accessed as of Monday, June 24. The URL now redirects to the main MTV website.

Former MTV News staff like Patrick Hosken took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their dismay over what happened.

"So, mtvnews.com no longer exists. Eight years of my life are gone without a trace. All because it didn't fit some executives' bottom lines. Infuriating is too small a word," he said.

Hosken and other music journalists lamented the sudden wipeout of archive material and history.

MTV is owned by Paramount Global, an American media conglomerate whose properties include Paramount Pictures, Paramount Streaming, and CBS Entertainment Group.

Variety reported that Paramount Global shut down MTV News last year.
