1,500 Oriental Mindoro residents to benefit from steel bridge by GMA Kapuso Foundation

Around 1,500 residents in Oriental Mindoro are set to benefit from a steel bridge that will be constructed by GMA Kapuso Foundation under its Kapuso Tulay Para sa Kaunlaran Project.

According to "24 Oras," Monday, the 70-meter cable suspended steel bridge is meant to serve the residents of the municipalities of Mansalay and Bulalacao who have to cross the river just to get to the city center.

This includes 73-year-old Egel Mundo of Bulalacao, who has to cross the river while carrying his heavy harvest over his back. Egel shared that they aren't able to get to the city during the rainy season because the river floods, thus hindering them from earning a living. It also takes him more than five hours just to get to the city center by foot.

The steel bridge project will be carried out by GMA Kapuso Foundation and its partners, including the 51st Engineer Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, which will provide the manpower, technical skills, and transportation needed for the project.

The foundation also held a feeding program and distributed food packs to the residents during the project's memorandum of agreement signing and groundbreaking ceremony.

To support more of GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Go here for more information.
