Bianca Umali, Ruru Madrid share how they overcome relationship struggles

Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid are about to celebrate their sixth anniversary next month, and just like any couple, they have been through many ups and downs.

On Thursday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Bianca said that the past six years have been “one heck of a ride,” adding that every year, they face challenges in their relationship.

“That’s the reality of every relationship eh. Walang relasyon ang perpekto, and we’re proud of all of the imperfections na we’ve gone through because alam namin ni Ruru ‘yung tinahak naming dalawa para maging ganito kami ka-strong ngayon,” Bianca said.

Ruru said that it’s their faith that they hold on to whenever they go through rough times.

The couple shared that they pray every night, whether they’re together or not, and whether their relationship is doing well or not.

“Palaging sa Kaniya kami maglalabas ng sama ng loob bago kami talaga mag-usap nang kaming dalawa,” Bianca said.

They recalled that their first two years were filled with struggles, including the controversial parking lot incident in their first year.

In their second year, Bianca said that they received the consequences of the things that happened in their first year and that they had to decide if they would still choose to stay together.

“Doon talaga namin nasukat ‘yung pagmamahal namin,” she said.

In the following years, the Kapuso power couple’s relationship and their careers started flourishing.

In their third year, Bianca converted to Ruru’s religion. The following year, they worked on their first project together, “The Write One.”

“Napakarami naming natutunan not just sa relationship, but also sa careers namin. Mas nakita namin ‘yung business, mas nakita namin ‘yung kung papaano ba magtatagal sa ganitong klaseng industriya,” Ruru said.

Bianca also said that their fifth year is their “breakthrough year,” with Ruru getting “Black Rider” and Bianca working on “Mananambal” and “Sang’gre.”

“Napakasarap po sa puso kasi kami ni Ruru, magkasama man kami o hindi, alam po namin na we both are thriving in our personal lives and our personal careers. And what we love about that is hindi po namin napagiiwanan ‘yung relasyon po namin,” Bianca said.

Last year, Bianca and Ruru marked their fifth anniversary with romantic social media posts for each other.
