Stell of SB19 wows with ‘All By Myself’ performance at David Foster concert: ‘Binigay ko talaga ‘yung best ko’

Stell of SB19 stole the show at the Hitman: David Foster and Friends concert at the Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday night with his dazzling rendition of “All By Myself."

The power ballad, originally written by Eric Carmen, has been popularly covered by Celine Dion.

According to Stell's post on social media, his trending performance wasn’t originally part of the concert lineup, but was asked by David himself during their soundcheck.

The P-pop idol said that right before rehearsing for his set as the concert’s opening act, he saw David playing the piano onstage. David asked Stell if he was wearing his in-ears and that they should try this song.

“Nagulat ako sabi ko sa utak ko, ‘What song?’ So na pa ‘huh’ ako. Then sabi niya ‘All By Myself,’ give it a try daw,” Stell said.

“Bilang lutang ako sa sobrang gulat, kinanta ko lang siya kung pano ko siya kinakanta. After i-play 'yung arrangement nung song sabi niya, ‘Do you want to perform this song tonight?’ Nasabi ko na lang, ‘If it’s ok with you sir,’ biglang BOOOM ayun na ang nangyare,” he added.

Stell said he only thought David just wanted to try the song, but it ended up being like an audition.

“Syempre sino [ba] naman ako para tumanggi diba? Minsan lang 'yung ganong pagkakataon kaya binigay ko talaga 'yung best ko,” Stell said.

After showcasing his Heavenly Voice to the classic power ballad, Stell said that the team backstage could not help but scream and jump together.

“I’m still shocked. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na nabigyan ako ng ganitong opportunity to perform on stage with the hitman, Mr. David Foster,” Stell said, adding that it was a solid experience.

“Thank you sa lahat ng sumuporta. Thank you Sir David Foster and to the whole team. Sana nagustuhan niyo po yung performance ko," he added. "Thank you Lord kayo po talaga yung boses ko kagabi, Salamat po!”

Prior to this, Stell showcased his vocal prowess with another trending performance of “Sometime, Somewhere” at Ryan Cayabyab’s Gen C concert.

Stell released his debut solo single “Room” on June 14 along with a theatrical music video directed by fellow member Justin De Dios.

Stell will release his debut EP with all original songs this August and is all set to go on a nationwide tour.

Stell and his fellow “The Voice Generations” judge Julie Anne San Jose will be holding a two-night concert in July.

He is also set to be a judge on “The Voice Kids” on GMA-7.
