UP SAMASKOM’s ‘Live A.I.D.S.’ back this July after five years

UP SAMASKOM’s ‘Live A.I.D.S.’ returns after five years

After a five-year pause since the pandemic, the University of the Philippines’ student organization, Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Komunikasyon (UP SAMASKOM), is bringing back its musical comedy variety show “Live A.I.D.S.” or "Ang Istoryang Dinebelop ng SAMASKOM."

According to its press conference held Friday at the University Hotel, "Live A.I.D.S. 34: Hysterical Revisionism" will again put a funny but sharp spin on socio-political issues and pop culture, providing witty commentary on Philippine society and adding a comic touch to trending topics and viral content.

“I hope everyone is as excited as we are for the show. We really want to bring back the tradition of ‘Live A.I.D.S.’ kasi we all need a laugh, you know? Ang hirap ng buhay. Being a Filipino at this time is really challenging, so it’s about time na tumawa naman tayo,” said director Bill Barrinuevo.

Among the personalities who have supported the show are Vice Ganda, Ricky Lee, Bianca Gonzalez, Quark Henares, John Lapus, Rajo Laurel, Jigs Mayuga, and Tim Yap.

“‘Live A.I.D.S.’ and the UP SAMASKOM are platforms where students and alumni members alike are given the opportunity to nurture their talents and skill sets, and essentially nurture them to face the real world,” said drag artist Mrs. Tan, a seasoned dancer and performer of the show.

Kuya Kim Atienza, Giselle Sanchez, Ate Glow, Michelle O’ Bombshell, Tuesday Vargas, KaladKaren, and other showbiz names are among the SAMASKOM alumni whose careers have been molded by “LIVE A.I.D.S.”

The show is happening from July 5 to 7 at the Ignacio B. Jimenez - KAL Theater in UP Diliman.

Regular tickets are available for P1,000 each and can be purchased here.
