'Firefly' secures 15 nominations at 40th PMPC Star Awards

"Firefly" just got 15 nominations at the 40th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards!

For this year, the GMA Pictures film is considered in the following categories:

• Movie of the Year - "Firefly"
• Director of the Year - Zig Madamba Dulay
• Movie Supporting Actor of the Year - Dingdong Dantes
• Movie Supporting Actress of the Year - Alessandra de Rossi
• Movie Supporting Actress of the Year - Cherry Pie Picache
• Movie Ensemble Acting of the Year - The Cast of Firefly
• New Movie Actress of the Year - Ysabel Ortega
• Movie Child Performer of the Year - Euwenn Mikaell
• Movie Screenwriter of the Year - Angeli Atienza
• Movie Cinematographer of the Year - Neil Daza
• Movie Editor of the Year - Benjo Ferrer
• Movie Musical Scorer of the Year - Len Calvo
• Movie Production Design of the Year - Kenneth Kevin Villanueva
• Movie Sound Engineer of the Year - Albert Michael Idioma
• Movie Loveteam of the Year - Miguel Tanfelix & Ysabel Ortega

Directed by Zig Dulay, "Firefly" narrates a moving story about family, dreams, and bravery as the young Tonton (Euwenn) embarks on a journey to find the mystical island of fireflies based on his mother's bedtime stories.  

"Firefly" was an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023. At the "Gabi ng Parangal" of the said festival, the film was named Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Child Performer for Euwenn.

"Firefly" also bagged awards from the Manila International Film Festival, FAMAS 2024, and Gawad Urian 2024.
